As we near the end of 2014, it’s time to start thinking, planning, and budgeting for the New Year. We have a short checklist of four key areas we think you should consider when making your plan. If you have any questions about these key areas for your business, please reach out to SpireTech!
- Outdated Software: Are you running programs or hardware that are out of date and unsupported? Are you still running Windows XP, which lost support by Microsoft in April 2014? Is your network still running on Windows Server 2003, which will hit end of life in July 2015? It’s important for your company’s security and productivity to upgrade, and we recommend making the move now. Upgrading from Server 2003 is not a quick process!
- Backup: Is your data backup device and process current and adequate for 2015? Do you know if your backup is working properly? Have you tried restoring a backup, and was it successful?
- Anti-virus & Firewall: Is your Anti-Virus software and firewall all that it should be to protect your business? Firewalls with outdated firmware, and out-of-date virus scanning software won’t protect you well enough. You should be running safe and secure software on your company’s network.
- New Products & Solutions: Don’t get stuck in the dark ages! Make sure your company is running on up-to-date computers, devices, and systems.
And remember: you still have time to take advantage of the Section 179 Deduction of the IRS tax code, which allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment and/or software, up to $25,000, purchased or financed during the tax year.
